Our Mission
Medicine Meets Ministry
From a young age, I was captivated by the beauty and complexity of the human body. Medicine and science sparked a lifelong passion in me, and that passion led me to earn a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Abilene Christian University. I spent the next ten years working in the hospital setting, where I discovered a deep love for caring for people and forming real connections. However, I became increasingly disheartened by how much of healthcare was dictated by insurance companies and the growing influence of “big medicine.”
In pursuit of greater impact and autonomy in patient care, I returned to school and earned my Master of Science in Nursing as a Family Nurse Practitioner from The University of Texas at Arlington in 2014. I then worked in Family Practice, once again cherishing the relationships I built with patients—but still wrestling with the limitations imposed by the traditional healthcare system.
In 2018, my husband and I felt a strong calling to move to Nicaragua to serve alongside the local Church. For six years, we hosted U.S. mission teams—coordinating medical outreach and supporting a variety of ministry efforts in Nicaragua and Honduras. In 2024, we made the decision to return to the U.S. permanently.
Back home, I felt a growing desire to merge my two greatest passions: medicine and ministry. Although I never attended Bible school, my heart burned to keep sharing the Good News of Jesus. After much prayer and planning, Shine Aesthetics and Wellness was born.
Shine is the marriage of medicine and ministry—a place where I can help people feel better, inside and out, while sharing the light and love of Jesus. Here, I strive to create a space where care is personal, real, and centered on connection, healing, and hope.
